Norfolk Beauty Prices: Which Treatment Is Actually Worth Paying For? |
From a £21 cut to a £65 aromatherapy facial, here is what current Norwich price lists include and how to judge whether the treatment feels worth it |

A £20 treatment can feel like a bargain. A £70 treatment can feel completely justified.
The awkward bit is knowing which one you are actually paying for.
In Norfolk, the headline price only tells part of the story. Before booking, it is worth checking how long the appointment lasts, whether consultation time is included, what happens during the treatment and how often you are likely to need a return visit.
We checked current published prices from Norwich salons and beauty businesses.
They show a broad range: a basic men’s cut can start at £17, a wash, cut and blow-dry at £37, a one-hour facial at £40 and a one-hour massage at £45. At the other end, more specialist or longer treatments can pass £70.
That does not automatically make the cheaper option is better value or the more expensive one a rip-off.
What does a standard appointment cost?
For hair, WOW Hair Beauty & Tanning lists a men’s cut and style at £17, a wash, cut and blow-dry at £37 and a restyle with blow-dry at £42.
The salon also lists a full-body Swedish massage at £45 for one hour, a luxury one-hour facial at £40 and a one-hour hot stone massage at £52.
Norwich Hair, in the city centre, lists a men’s cut at £40 and a wash, cut and blow-dry at £55. Its colour menu starts at £70 for roots and £85 for all-over colour, while a full-head highlight starts at £125.
These are “from” prices, with the salon noting that hair length and complexity can affect the final cost.
That difference is a useful reminder: two treatments with almost identical names may not be directly comparable.
A £17 cut and a £40 cut could involve different styling, staff experience, hair length, appointment time or finish.
If you want a particular result, ask what is included rather than comparing the number alone.
The same applies to nails and beauty treatments.
At The Hair & Beauty Lounge in Norwich’s Golden Triangle, a manicure without polish is £20, rising to £30 with colour and £40 for a deluxe manicure.
Its gel manicure is £40 and gel polish is described as lasting up to three weeks without chipping.
Iris Salon lists a gel dry manicure or pedicure at £40 when removal is included, compared with £30 when no removal is required.
That small detail can change the real cost of an appointment, especially if you are switching from another salon.
Always check whether removal, repairs, nail art or a finishing treatment is included before you book.
How long will the result last?
Longevity is one of the clearest ways to think about value, although it is never guaranteed.
A £40 gel manicure that stays presentable for two or three weeks may feel more worthwhile than a £20 polish appointment that needs correcting after a few days.
Equally, if you prefer changing colours regularly, the lower-cost option may suit you better.
The Hair & Beauty Lounge lists lash lifts and brow lamination as treatments that will normally last up to six weeks. Its price list gives £42 for a lash lift and £30 for brow lamination.
The salon also requires a patch test before some eye treatments, so the first appointment may involve more planning than the price suggests.
For facials, consider what you are paying for beyond the word “facial”. WOW lists an express facial at £28 for 30 minutes and a luxury facial at £40 for one hour.
The Hair & Beauty Lounge lists a 45-minute Discovery Facial at £47, a one-hour Ultimate Vitamin Glow facial at £60 and a 75-minute targeted Aroma Expert Facial at £67.
The more expensive treatment may be worthwhile if you want a longer appointment or a more targeted experience.
But if you mainly want a short reset before an event, an express facial may be the more sensible choice. “Worth it” depends on the job you want the treatment to do.
The questions to ask before paying
For a first appointment, ask five simple questions:
• How long will the treatment itself take?
Also check whether the price is fixed or starts from a minimum.
Colour work, extensions, restyles and specialist skin treatments are particularly likely to vary according to hair length, condition, product use or the result you want.
A useful rule is to divide the price by the time and expected wear but only as a rough guide.
A £52 one-hour hot stone massage is not necessarily “better value” than a £30 half-hour back, neck and shoulder massage if you only need targeted relief.
A £55 cut may be worth it for a major restyle, but unnecessary for a quick trim.
The real test is whether the treatment matched what you asked for, whether the price was clear before you sat down and whether you left feeling the result justified the spend.
